Finally some playtime!

During the month of January the FiberArtFriends group is exploring techniques in combining fabric and paper. I haven't figured out exactly what to do yet but I did start to play! This piece consists of scraps of paper, organza, crayons, metallic paint, and thread.

Next I took some leftover ribbons from Christmas and weaved them together on top of a piece of fabric. I'm surprised at how hardy the ribbons are, I really expected them to tear.

You have made a good start on your fabric and paper. I must start mine soon.
I love your ribbon weaving. are you going to add to it?

Hi Kim.
The first sample looks very exciting.
But I can't read the text about it. Did blogger eat it up?

Love the pieced paper and the ribons, will you do something with them or put them in your file.

Love your first sample - I love the look of random, but my control freak takes over and I don't usually achieve it! A great start to the theme :)

Love both of these samples. That woven piece looks very sparkly! I really like the randomness of the first piece and the colors are great. So now what will you do with them? Will you turn them into something or will you mount them to a page for reference later?

Both samples are great! The ribbon one is so glitzy - the colours are great!

Yay...playtime! Both samples of great, but my fave is the paper/fabric. I love the colors you used and the craziness of it. How big is it?

Like you need to veer off onto another path! Love the first one too. . .OH, shoot, maybe I will veer too!

Great start for January. I don't even have a clue what I am going to do as of yet.

I love the idea of paper and fabric together, it just opens another world of possibilities. I like what you have started.

Art Quilter Joan Schulze uses all kinds of materials together in her very impressive work. It has me thinking. Jen

What a great use for ribbons that would normally get trashed. I like the paper and fabric piece but I can't figure out which is which. Neat materials.
