January Journal Quilt

White Carnation

This year I "signed up" with the CPS Journal Quilts group and committed to make one Journal Quilt for each month in 2007. The theme I chose was A Year of Flowers, my plan is to make an 8.5 x 11 inch quilt that features a flower for each month. I found a number of lists of designated flowers by month. (My favorite list was complied by Waverly Fitzgerald of School of the Seasons.) For January I decided to do a white carnation. Earlier this month I planned how I was going to make this piece that made it easy to sit down and work on it today. I haven't done anything for the last week and it felt good to get something accomplished!

Beautiful Kim! I like the background on this piece, the contrast of the strips of color and pattern really allow the white flowers to pop off the surface.

Kim, this is a great first installment for your series. I really like the background technique.

I like this size as it allows you to complete something quickly and/or work through a problem whether it is emotional or a technique.

I love it. It is really great, expecially those carnations.

Wow! Gorgeous! The three dimensional carnations are great and look so good on the uneven blue strips, the red January is icing on the cake.

This is AMAZING, Kim. Can't wait to see the blooms you create as the year winds on.
