TAST Challenge - Wk02

Buttonhole Stitch

This is the second week with SharonB's Take a Stitch Tuesday challenge. I'm continuing with keeping my stitches confined to a 6x4 inch sampler. The time I spent working on the samples is very relaxing. Last week I found sitting and holding the work a little awkward - it didn't "feel" that bad this week. I started a journal for the TAST challenge. Each stitch will have two pages: the first page a sketch of the sampler naming the variation of the stitches and the other page for notes. I found that while I was working I'd be thinking "oh, that would be good with..." or "I like those colors together." I always think I'm going to remember these things but I don't. I'm not sure if after writing them down I'll return to the notes but at least they'll be there. This is clearly a journey for me. I told some local friends I was doing this, they responded with What? and Why? At the time, I said 'Cause! (It really felt like a middle school moment.) I think the same women said the same thing when I said I got EQ6.

I was thinking alot about you yesterday. Since I am also a former cross stitcher, I have found crazy quilting to be the perfect blend of quilting and cross stitching. I have decided not to fight the urge but to delve into it with all my energy. I am finding that I love what is happening. You may find that too. It just seems so adaptable to all kinds of ideas and a good connection between many art worlds and works.
