Starting January's Journal Quilt

I thought about the the orientation for Jan. JQC last night and finally decided to begin a new piece. I did a quick sketch, went through the fabric stash for inspiration and selected a "to start with" pallette, went to bed, happy with my decision to go portrait orientation (8.5" x 11"). Jen's post this morning (but it is supposed to be 8 1/2 x 11) had me giggling a little. One of my favorite solutions is to start over again!

Husband and I are taking our daughter back to college and rewarding ourselves with a night out in the big city - a little shopping, dining and stay at a hotel downtown. I'm looking forward to it and yet I want to work on my Jan JQ!
