The theme for collages in February is Transformation. When my girls were small I use to tell them that life was a journey and they had their own path. My role as their mother was to help them "see" if they had maybe strayed off their path, in the rough - not lost, and then to encourage them to get back on their path. As they got older and sometimes chose to linger in the rough or came to a fork in their path we'd talk about the risks. We had a lot of fun with "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" and "Ease on down the Road." This journey on life's path is a transformational process, the work of the soul. With that in mind my focus for the four collages are: Be Yourself, Have a Vision, Embrace Growth, and Accept the risks/chaos of the process.
The lettering was done by putting wunderunder on brown-dyed organza and writing with the machine. It's from a quote by e.e. cummings "to be nobody-but-yourself -- in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else - means to fight the hardest battle which any human can fight, and never stop fighting"
