I'm calling May's Journal Quilt "conFUSEd" and am looking forward to more experimentation with a soldering iron. I picked up Margaret Beal's Fusing Fabric a few months ago and I finally made time to attempt some of the techniques. For this piece I made rather undisciplined stabs at synthetic fabric layered on acrylic felt and to bring the piece up to 8.5" x 11" I added cotton fabric to the bottom and right side. I embellished with a few machine/hand stitches and punched in a little color with a varigated ribbon. It was fun - fabric doodling... my favorite pastime!

This is wonderful. Really fun textures. So, is this May?
I love doodling too. I thinks it's healthy.
Really attractive piece. The varigated ribbon colors are so great against the other fabrics. What is that wonderful sparkly fabric?
I like this very much...from the raw edges to the embroidered X's to the layered shapes and colors.
This is my favorite of all your work so far
I have just acquired the same book. Going to start experimenting as soon as I can find a little helper!
You have inspired me.
thanks for that.
