November JQC2006

Give Thanks - 2006

My November Journal Quilt was easy and peaceful sewing. After all the machine issues I've had this week, I cut myself a little slack and made something familiar. When I had studio space outside my home, my studio partner and I made 15"x19" quilts we called "Dining Companions" (aka placemats) - this Journal Quilt is a simpler and smaller version of one of those!

Lovely color combo and composition. The colorful plate reminds me of a fanned out turkey tail...very appropriate November.

I was hesitant about the value on the "silverware" but I think it works just fine. I really did enjoy putting this piece together - we had Thanksgiving dinner at my ex-studio-partner's home so this Journal Quilt has extra special meaning.
