eine kleine Ecke
This week's artist, Gustav Klimt is hands down one of my very favorites! I think I'm drawn to artist that were controversial in their time. Klimt was known as a Symbolist Painter and criticized for his work being too sensual and erotic. ( ... compared to what's on TV these , not so much.) I thought it was fitting to "reproduce" a symbol from one of his pieces. I love The Kiss, Medicine (Hygieia), Three Ages of Women... okay, I love them all! I decided to keep it simple (no glitzy gold) and pull something from his 1907 oil painting Danae. The black fabric is a polyester scrap leftover from my daughter's choir dress that I made last year and the symbols were created using fast2fuse. Finished it off with some simple lines, couldn't resist just a little glitz!
The storm last night was horrid! During the power outage we were out removing the gazebo cover before it was blown away. We lost two sections of fence but I can't complain too much, a neighbor a street over had two trees fall on their house. School was canceled today but the worst is over. It's never dull around here!
For fun, this has been going around, so here's me - making an elf of myself!
Happy Hanukkah!

Klimt is one of my favorites too! I have a wonderful coffee table book full of his art that I love to thumb through. Plus, a large framed print of The Kiss is the first thing you see when coming through our front door. Too be surrounded by his colors and designs would be heaven!
Love the Klimt detail you selected!
I love Klimt, too. did you know they're making a movie about his life?
Well, I didn't know about the movie but I do now... gotta love Google, or any good search engine! Thanks!
I'm also a fan of Klimt. Love what you have done.
They look like they're lauging! I love it!
Hmmph! bloglines dropped you again. I decided to check things out since you had not shown up with a new post...and I find 3 new ones.
They do look like they're laughing! The metallic thread reminds of the golden shower when Zeus dropped through the roof. Love this one and the Menorah!
So glad that you didn't have any more damage from the storm than what you did. Your Menorah is wonderful.
Love your ode to Klimt! Do you get to pick the artists you want to do? Are you doing a different artist each week? I like how you chose to do a symbol from within one his paintings. I'm curious where the symbol was in one of his paintings.

I also wanted to ask you...have you heard of Ludwig Kirchner? If not, check out his paintings, I'm sure you'll find them intriguing.

I'm another fan of Klimt and of course I will now have to check on Ludwig K.
