Foggy Thursday

Heavy fog today so I thought it would be a perfect day for soup. It turned out okay but I got so tired of chopping vegetables that I loss enthusiasm for doing anything creative the rest of the day. I did spend some time thinking about quilting goals for 2008 - I don't know why I'm having such a hard time figuring out what direction I want to go. I keep trying to convince myself that I should work on some larger art quilts but haven't felt that rush of inspiration.

Beck

This quilt hangs in my family room - I made it five years ago, it's 45"x60". The art of Andy Goldsworthy inspired this piece. I fell in love with his work the very first time I saw it. In the early 1990's, my husband and I visited the Storm King Art Center in New York. It's a wonderful sculpture park. Construction of 'Wall' had begun and we got to see the birth of a truly beautiful sculpture. I'm hoping to return to Storm King someday to see it again.

(Note: Beck is the name of a poem by the Cumbrian poet Norman Nicholson)

This is lovely Kim. Adding brown combinations really brings the scheme into play.

I like it, too. Funny, I posted a bit about Goldsworthy a few weeks ago on my book blog and began thinking of ways to do something Goldsworthy-esque down in the country; I also thought briefly of how to incorporate some of his ideas in fabric. Briefly is the operative word on both counts! Here is the link
