These are the front and back of a my Fiber Art Friends page swap for Helen. Her theme was "India". I decided to create a peacock feather on one side and a hand with a henna design on the other side.
The peacock is the national bird of India. Working out the design was fun. I stared at a lot of feathers and was amazed at how different they look.
When I was reading about henna painting it said "the henna is laid out onto the skin like a thread" - well, now, I laid out my henna design with thread on top of a piece of dyed organza.
I finished it off with some beads around the edges of this seven-inch square piece.

I find the henna designs fascinating! So intricate. This is a great page, Kim, front and back.
This is beautiful! The contrast between front and back is attractive too.
Both are fabulous, but I'm really drawn to the hand/henna design.
When you posted that my page was finished and on your blog I had to decide - to peek or not to peek!?!?
I couldn't resist - IT LOOKS FAB!!! Your threadwork looks amazing. Can't wait to see. Hope the mail service is kind and doesn't keep me in suspense too long :)
Oh this is lovely, well done Kim. Lucky Helen!
wonderful, Kim! I look forward to seeing something larger!
Wow this is fantastic. I love the feather, but really am drawn to the henna hand.
very cool. I especially like the way the henna one turned out.
