Over the years I've created different checklist for keeping the household chores under control. Today, I was thinking about getting started on some of the Spring cleaning chores but decided instead to look at the various checklists and re-vamp them (ah, yes, the spring procrastination!) Life around the household has changed now that it's just the two of us and the dog. As much as I would like to teach the dog how to sweep the floors, I just don't think she'd really commit to the job.
All I managed to do today was peruse these sites and took a few notes.

This week's menu (wk12) -
Sat: Lamb Sausage, asparagus, rice (with leftover Indian food)
Sun: Spinach Ricotta Pie , salad
Mon: Lentil soup, bread
Tue: Leftovers
Wed: Grilled chicken with fettuccine and sun-dried tomatoes, salad
Thu: Salad and paninis (prosciutto, mozzarella, basil, red pepper)
Fri: Teriyaki Salmon, green beans, salad

A game of word association, what's the first word that comes to mind:

destiny----> death
That was the practice. Easy one for me. I've always held the belief that I'm on my own path in life. How I choose to get down my path, my journey in life, that's my responsibility. Like the quote of Yogi Berra, "When you come to a fork in the road, take it!" My choices decide where my journey takes me; I decide what baggage I take along with me (and what I drop along the way!); where I may meet obstacles, I decide how I deal with them and how they effect me; and ultimately, at journey's end, I die and leave this form behind.
The readings talk about external versa internal locus of control. I'm an advocate of the latter camp myself. There was a time in my life that I thought I was "lucky" - things seemed to come easy for me but really I think I was always preparing for my journey.

The week's menu sounds great! I'm checking out some of the links, too.
I can't remember where I first read it, but the analogy of free will and fate was that of a dog on a chain. He has free will within the area of the chain's reach, but the chain's length determined that freedom. I was actually thinking about it this morning because I was reading this:

Then Lama Surya Das goes on to say that "We do have a high degree of free will and choice, which gives us a God-like control of our destiny; it makes us divine, creative, and proactive."

I used to look at FlyLady regularly. I found it really quite practical, and still use some of her ideas, like setting a timer for 15 minutes to do a chore. It keeps me focused. The site is excessive and repetitious after a while though. I'd be interested to hear what you thought of it.
