Weekly Collage

wk10-08

This weekly started off simple enough - I used two pieces of fabric and ran through the programmed stitches on my sewing machine.

The ordinary arts we practice everyday at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest. --- Sir Thomas More

This lovely mask is from Emmy.

I find African tribal masks fascinating - the artistry and the symbolism. Emmy captured the spirit of what I admire and her work is wonderful.

Living consciously...

The practice today was exactly the kind of thing I like - to do something that feeds the soul! The suggestions included listening to music, meditating and feeling the new learnings (that's an unusual way to phrase it.) So I did just that! The whirl of the sewing machine is meditative for me and I took some time to just be outside. It was a lovely day.

I really like the way you used decorative stitches on this; the piece has a stained glass window effect, and the "light" coming through is wonderful. I love masks, and Emmy's is no exception.
