April Journal Quilt

The Journal Quilt for April at long last! It's possible that by the end of this month I might be caught up with the Journal Quilt, Weeklies, and TIF Challenges. I watched way too much TV this last weekend with all the sports but I had to watch the the U.S. Open 18 hole playoff between Woods and Mediate. It was a good time to work on April's Journal Quilt.

Living consciously...

Got ahead of myself (again) yesterday. Every time I do that it reminds me that I'm not really being that consciously paying attention. After all, there is a calendar at my desk and all I have to do is match the dates... 15=15, 16=16, etc.

The reading and practice from the fifteen talks about listening to the "sounds of your heart" and what that music is trying to tell you. I love music so any analogy that compares life and music works for me. I actually use music to ride the waves of some emotional swings - it helps get me out of my head and allows me to feel. Playing music is the best... if I'm happy I play happy or if I'm sad I play sad. It's like a litmus test for my emotions. I had made a 'agreement' with my self to play at least 20 minutes a day but I haven't honored that for some time now. I think given the practice for June 16th, I think it's time to get back on track and re-commit to that agreement.

I like this piece. It's interesting to me how it balances, when it shouldn't since so much is one the left side. I'm always amazed by what I don't understand about composition. :)
In my version of l.c., I'm loving my body today-- Maybe I'll give it a piece of rhubarb pie.

Beautiful quilt!
So, I'm not the only one to be a little late with my work...

I really like your April piece. Did you use rubbing plates with the orange or is that a commercial fabric?

your comments about music are interesting. My hubby's first love is music. he turns it on the first thing in the morning and plays it all day, in the car, at work in his office. I find that when I am alone I don't have music playing but since I got my ipod I am listening more. Music can definitely influence mood.
