Crumb Bear progress...

This has not been a quick weekly. I still have to finish sewing the top and quilt it. I was sure about the black but I think it helps calm the chaos. I do like the green on the bottom and I'm still deciding if I want the brown on the top.

Think I need to sleep on it.

Living consciously...

The practice: What finally allowed you to begin to move past your deep sorrow?

Hendricks writes "letting acceptance rather than resistance rule your experience of life - and loss..." Yep. When I get there I certainly feel better! But in terms of moving past "deep sorrow," time certainly helps.

Given the choice between grief and nothing, I'd choose grief. ~ William Faulkner

you've done a wonderful job on the gentle curved lines making that bear :-) I rather like him on the black to give him definition, though a piece of grey, or the right B&W might feel less harsh...

Oh wow. I love this one, Mum. ^_^ I'm probably biased because of my love of bears, but the stylized representation is wonderful and the crazy bright colors work very well in it. I like the black background. It makes the colors pop without being too chaotic.

I would totally love to own a piece like this, some time.

The bear is terrific and the effect of the reds in the center give the effect of primitive cave drawings fleshed out. I think the black is ideal, it isolates the figure and reminds me of totems.

This is wonderful! I can see it in a larger format too. Jenclair is right about the totems.

Thanks all!
jen and kay - I had looked at totems when I was thinking about sketching a bear.
jessica - Thank you, dear!
