Carving away at ideas

Some months ago I had the idea that I should work on my 2009 goals so that by the time December 1st came around I'd have a plan and even get a jump on some of them. Well, since I've done nothing so far, tomorrow could be a very busy day! Here's some things I'm considering...

Six Word Story - I was intrigued by this BBC report, which led me to this NPR Photo gallery and then this flickr group.

100words - also something I've thought about doing from time to time (primarily to force myself to write more!)

And I've been thinking about a daily journal - maybe like this. ( especially like the quote: Art is just another way of keeping a journal. ~ Pablo Picasso

Living consciously...

The focus of today's reading and practice is to remember to pause and breathe -- before you reply to someone or before you completely feel the feeling you're starting to feel. One of my favorite techniques is to "mind the gap" between stimulus and response which works well when replying to someone but I hadn't considered using it on an internal stimulus like a feeling that is starting to bubble up. I iwll add that to my bag of tricks, why not.

What a cool calendar! With your talent for drawing (and coloring!), you could definitely do that!

Hey, I loved the Six Word Story link so much that I put a link on a site of mine. Thanks for sharing it.
Hope your goal planning goes well. I always enjoy seeing you fulfill them so well!

rian - I do like the calendar journal page and am giving that some thought -- might help me with my quest to develop better discipline and it would be kinda neat to have an illustrated calendar at the end of 2009.

sande - Thanks Sande. I'm looking forward to 2009 and hope to fill it with challenges -- old and new!
I really like the 6word idea and am trying to figure a way to incorporate it into some of my plans for 2009. Since I've been wanting to take more photographs as well, combining the two would work... feeling a little scary-excited just think about it...
