Weekly Collage

wk 01-09

I was having one of those moment where I was going to go ahead and let myself NOT do my weekly collage today when, that nagging little "now" started whispering at me. Pulled myself together , started and finished it during the second half of the football game. I'm spending time this month learning a little about written Chinese (starting with these two wiki pages: Chinese language and Written Chinese, of course!)

Citrus choices chase away winter blues.

Creative every day: 3 of 365 done!

Now what?

Third day of the new year and I'm feeling good about how I've been spending my time. My daughter heads back to college tomorrow and husband back to work on Monday. I'm planning a marathon day in the studio on Monday. I'm desperate for a-whirl-of-the-sewing-machine fix. Tomorrow I'm going to decide how I'm going to spend my time and may even do some prep work.

For now:
Time for music - I haven't played the piano for a week and for Christmas I got the Beethoven: Complete Piano Sonatas... better play before I listen!

Happy New Year - I have been reading your blog for a long time now and have wanted to ask about your sketchbook pics that you post each time. Questions: Is it a blank book to start? What size is it? Do you just doodle every day or do you have some prompts? Do you use any of the pics to turn into other art or is it just a doodle book?

Isn't Chinese a visually beautiful language? So what does it mean?

Love the citrus colors -- so cheerful and vibrant. They look great in your journal.

I'm pleased with my progress into this new year, too. I hope our enthusiasm continues because the sense of accomplishment and anticipation feels so good!

Word verification - crock! I know there are more word-like arrangements, lately, but yours are particularly funny.

Anna - Hi Anna! Yes, it is a blank bound book, about A4 size. I am trying to 'doodle' every day - I usually start with the date and make a note about what's going on at home. When I was reading Twyla Tharp's The Creative Habit, I would make notes in the sketchbook. I have taken a sketch from the book and turned it into a quilt project. I'm looking forward to the sketchbook evolving over time. I've was inspired by Greenlees book (Creating Sketchbooks for Embroiderers and Textile Artists)... but I'm not there yet!!!

jenclair - I do love the script but I figure I should learn what it means before I use it - if I'm going to offend I might as well do it boldly! Now... my word and theme for the year.

I do intend for this to be a good year - so far, so good!

Debra - Ha! Tropical? I thought you were moving away from that...

rian - yep! doing okay... One day at a time!
