I completed my February Take it Further Challenge. I struggled with both the colors and the theme. When I remembered I had a pair of my old saddle shoes in the studio, I decided to include them in the challenge. It wasn't long after I found the shoes that I remember a childhood phrase of mine 'hocks and who nows.' The funny thing about memory is that I'm never sure if I really remember it or if it was the story I was reminded of while I was growing up, reinforced over the years, that built the memory. 'Hocks and who nows' is a little phrase that makes me smile inside and I can almost see myself, gleefully running to my room to do what my mother asked of me "Get your socks and shoes now." I'm sure it was 'hocks and who now, hocks and who nows' in a high little sing song voice - feels like a real memory.
The 17 inch square quilt was beginning to look a little boyish. So, I decided to add some pink shoe laces. Funny, that triggered more memories... "Tan shoes & Pink Shoelaces" I've been singing that song for the last few days. I remember doing a tap dance to the song - I think it was all shuffle-ball-step or shuffle-ball-change. (...and that's all I know about tap!)
As much as I grumbled about Feb TIFC, I must thank Sharon B's In a Minute Ago, turned out to be a good challenge for me.

I love it Kim both the little quilt and the story
This turned out very well. I like the colors and the lettering.
Kudos Kim! You created a fantastic quilt with lots of memories.
Boy, this turned out well! I love the pink shoe laces, the text, the buttons!
Adorable! I love it! You really did a great job with it. The pink shoelaces was the perfect touch.

I really like this, I think that it worked wonderfully with the color scheme! I remember saddle shoes, I always wanted to wear patent leather mary janes instead...
I also loved your story! I have found myself remembering so many things, reading everyone's blogs about this month's challenge.
What a great memory and a cool quilt. I think the TIF process is going to be good for all of us. The color schemes are harder to work with than I though but that's a good thing.
This is great - ggreat quilt, great story (i agree about memories - Im sure most of what I remember is what my mum told me later) the pink laces really lift the whole thing .well done
That is a great quilt! ...made all the better with the story behind it!!
I remember saddle shoes, I had a pair or two myself. They sure were comfortable. Your TIF turned out so well, I hope you have a great place to hang it.
I must admit I am not a great quilt fan but I love this one, I would definitely put it on my wall.
