The subtitle of this piece should read 'letting the masks fall away.' I certainly have come to the stage in my where I don't have time, energy, desire or reason to hold up any false faces.
I was sad to hear that Tim Russert died today at 58. I really respected the way he carried himself. I admired his approach to journalism and enjoyed watching him on Meet the Press.
Living consciously...
The reading and practice was on "habits" and focused on identifying how you've broken a habit in the past as means of letting go of current habits.
A couple of years ago I made the decision to change my habit about brushing and flossing. It was something I battle with for years (decades!) I couldn't understand why I could commit to just brushing and flossing at least twice a day. So, I decided to do just that - just commit to it. Having made the decision, I now do it every day. I want to believe that every change of habit is that simple: make a conscious commitment to change and do it. Clearly, the habits I hold onto, I want to hold onto. Maybe it's time to take a better look at what I might want to change and do that.
