Mind the games

My plan was to finish these padded footlets by the end of the day. Almost. I still need to finish the toe and weave in the ends. I'm checking it off the list!

I've been doing the crossword and sudoku on the NYTimes website - usually while I drink my morning Americano. I recently discovered KenKen... I'm going to have to set a timer in the morning to remind myself to step away from the computer!

Living consciously...

I really like idea of the practice today: Make a list of your top five favorite books; trade lists with a few friends; and read their favorites.

I think it's a great way to learn more about my friends but I'd want to modify the practice. I'm thinking it would interesting to look at recent books and ask which ones they've read (or want to read), then read and discuss those books over the next year with them. The NYTimes has a list of 100 notable books of 2008.

I found five (in addition to Hot, Flat, and Crowded that's sitting on my desk now) that I would like to read: A Mercy; American Lion; Dangerous Laughter; Dictation: A Quartet; and Half the World in Light.

Well, at least I've got the beginnings of my reading list for 2009.
