Of course, she didn't work on every single one of those skills during each session...

"Of course, she didn't work on every single one of those skills during each session, since she was scrupulous about limiting her training to just twenty brief minutes at a time." The Vigorous Mind - Ingrid E. Cummings

Rules:
* Pick up the nearest book. Right now.
* Go to page 56.
* Find the 5th sentence.
* Write that sentence in your Title.
* Copy these instructions as a comment on your Title.
* Don't get your favourite book or the best one, but the closest to you right now.

(With this disclaimer - the book that was actually closest to me was Masters: Art Quilts which I received as a Christmas gift. On page 56, a lovely quilt by Noriko Endo 'Sylvan Ambience #2' - The Vigorous Mind was under it.)

I discovered this gem at Collage Diva.

I nearly always entertained by the way the universe works. In one of my many self-improvement phases, I had a chart of the things I wanted to remember to do every day. My left-brain called it my "Accountability Log" while my right-brain just delighted in the opportunity to have some play time. My goal was to spend twenty minutes engaged in each activity and when everything was checked off, I could return to activities where I HAD to spend more time or wanted to spend more time. I don't use the chart anymore but I have been trying to embrace the spirit of it (although, lately, with the way I've been forgetting things, maybe I should return to it!) My copy of The Vigorous Mind was delivered today and I'm looking forward to reading it - I certainly enjoyed the fifth sentence on page 56!

I'm going back through The Vigorous Mind, highlighting and noting books and authors.

My copy of Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman arrived today. Cummings had so much good to say about Feynman, I decided to give him a try. My husband has decided on his new project--learning to play the guitar. Hmmmm. Wonder how much I'll enjoy that... :)

jenclair - The Vigorous Mind looks like a good book to write in - nice spacing between the lines and lots of white space.

Acoustic Guitar, right? I've a friend that took up the drums after he retired - I feel for his wife. I really can't complain, my husband tolerates my violin and piano playing. (We all joke that he plays a mean stereo - usually loud.)
