WIP Wednesday

What little creative work I did manage to get done the last few days is finally in the mail! (Since I know family and friends visit here - no pictures - I don't want to ruin any surprises!)

I spent yesterday finishing the last of my postcards for 6 x 4 lives. This was a challenge that sharonb of inaminuteago launched at the beginning of 2006. While this was intended to be a monthly postcard, I made a postcard a week... I didn't post them all on the group Flickr! (but they are here.)

The main part of WIP Wednesday is trying to figure out my Goals for 2007.
I've been managing my time fairly well this year but I'm still feeling like I want to do more.
I'm still trying to sort out what I'm going to commit to this next year. I've signed up for a few within the online communities and have challenged myself to some other activities:

  1. 12x12x12 - Sande has offered to orchestrate this chorus line of participants in the Quilt Studio Challenge. I think over 20 have signed up (including those who have opted for the 12x12x4)
  2. CPSJournalQuilt - Susan is moderating this Yahoo group challenge to make a 8.5x11inch Journal Quilt each month.
  3. Take a Stitch Tuesday Challenge (TSTC) - Sharonb is challenging 100+ creative folk to take a stitch and experiment with it weekly throughout 2007. My plan is to work the stitches each week and have a finished postcard piece to show-off weekly and post the best-of-show each month at 6 x 4 lives. I'm a little intimidated by the TSTC but I'm sure as the year progresses I'll develop more confidence!
  4. Friday Collages - I'm planning on continuing this weekly throughout 2007 - I set up the new monthly themes for 2007 at the end of October (here) and Debra also posted the information at the Quilt Studio. I thought I was alone with this insane pursuit to produce a weekly quilt but I have successfully coerced - I mean convinced - three hometown friends to join me! (They don't have blogs but maybe they'll give me permission to photograph their pieces and post them here.)
  5. FiberArtsFriends - This group is exploring a new "technique" each month. In January we will be experimenting with combining fabric and paper. In addition some of us have signed up for a page swap as we explore each month's techniques.
  6. Creative Journey - This group is challenged each month by prompts to explore their "theme" using different media. My theme for 2007 is Celestial Bodies. Challenge #4 due Jan 11th is to use polystyrene in your art to explore your theme.
  7. Drawmo! - is a November challenge to draw everyday during the month of November. There is currently on ongoing challenge to draw weekly (or as desired - no draw police here!) ... keeping are drawing engines warm until next November! I'm also continuing with MadMe Journals - where I do a "daily" doodle... I'm behind posting them - I just need a free hour and the some time on the computer!
  8. (really #8 through about #30 or so...) I have this insanely long list of stuff I want to do, try, play with including but not limited to: digital photography, working with photoshop, series of quilted panels (six ~2x4ft), polymer clay dolls, watercolor paintings, participate in arty meme twice per year, learn to document using visual journals, daily sketches, etc, etc...
I'd really like to have 30 hour days! I'm getting closer to having my goals set for 2007 - think I need about another week!

Wow! You are going to be so busy. I'll be following your progress on your blog - and also in a couple of the groups (which I'm involved in too).

Nice 6x4's. Thanks for sharing your 2007 goals. I'm thinking about trying a list of goals for 2007...first time for me. I love reading what other's goals are.

I was entertained by your 6x4's, they are lovely.

The amount of stuff you've listed for your 2007 goals intimidates the heck out of me, but YOU GO GIRL! I'll enjoy your successes.
